Peri G. was invited to conceptualize a sculpture for the heart of the University of Connecticut's campus.
Vision
Peri's unique vision came up with an immersive experience for the new contemplative garden space.
The sculpture(s) are highly reflective, with the include everything within their surroundings. The people, the foliage, the trees, and the buildings are all part of the art installation itself.
The relationship between these angular hard edged sculptures represents our human inclination towards judgement, narrow mindedness, and unwillingness. But juxtaposing these hard edges are the reflection of us, and all of the softness that surrounds the installation. The artists intention is for each of us to look at our personal relationship to the shapes in front of us, but allowing the reflecting softness to allow us to be more immersed in the larger sum of all things.
We all breathe the same air. This contemplative space gives a fresh breath to the University campus.
Peri has worked diligently with the Universities landscape design team, the Benesch design/engineering team to bring this full concept to life. This special space was completed in June 2026.
